Hi! My name is Sahand. I'm from Iran.I'm in GEOS for 6 weeks and it's very good, it's funny and interesting. I am enjoying the classes and they are very good, and the textbooks are very good too. I live with my mother, uncle, aunt in America. I went to school but my English is not very good but now my English is very good thanks to GEOS! We have Internet, a kitchen, and many areas.

I am very happy to study in this school. It brought the opportunity to learn a new language and to meet people from different countries too. I'm going to spend three months in this school and my best experience is to be sharing with you. I have 5 siblings who live in this country. I'm very fortunate to be here with them.

I came to the U.S 9 months ago from Japan.I couldn't speak and understand English and wanted to study English early. My husband contacted GEOS because he became to be able to speak English through his business. When I started studying English at GEOS it was very painful. But, I have a fun time now. Classmates are from different countries. Their words, cultures, and everything are different. Interesting! I'm very busy in the afternoon because I have a child. But I'll try to study English. I'd like to have fun by talking in English. I'd like to order a sandwich!

I'm Fabrizia and I'm from Italy. I went to L.A to improve my English because I think that it is very important language for life and for work. Especially for work because I would work in the field of fashion and I need it so much. I'm learning the English in GEOS. Here they are all friendly and kind. In my classroom there are 4 other students. We are of different nationalities and this is very good and interesting because I can learn many things of their cultures.

I feel good in this school and to learn the English is very funny. In Los Angeles I live with a family. They are kind and I was very well received. At home I stay with their children, it's very funny. I play with them and sometimes I teach them some words in Italian. Everything in America is fantastic! I love America.

I chose this school because I would like to visit LA and know places near here like Las Vegas, Grand Canyon and San Francisco. I came to LA to improve my skills of speaking and listening. I like this school because all of the teachers and workers are friendly and help me when I have some questions. I have been here just 2 weeks, so the best activities for are are talking and Coffee Talk.

I like studying here at GEOS! It's been almost two months and I don't want to leave the school! I learned a lot during my stay here, the teachers are friendly, the school staff is really helpful. It is a great experience I won't forget. I had the opportunity to study with people from all over the world and we are friends now. After class, we are going together to the activities, every day is different and I like going out with my new friends because I can practice my English with other students than my classmates.
It is my 1st time in LA and I love living here, it is so different from my home country. I am so glad to be here, I don't want to go back home.

The thing that I really enjoy about GEOS is the kind of teaching, because I think that the best way for me to learn English is speaking. I learn a lot here and I see a lot of impressive things on activities like the beach, Hollywood, Las Vegas, etc.

At GEOS, you can learn English in a different way: You can play games, visit some interesting places with the teacher, listen to music and watch movies. So it's very nice to study English here. You are always in contact with the language in real situations. I can improve my English here!

I chose to study at GEOS LA because it is near to a beach, because there are many malls close to school, and I can get a lunch or go shopping easily. But, when I started the class I felt surprised how the teachers and manager are so friendly and amazing to talk with them. We students can learn to speak naturally and the activities after class can help us to improve our English with fun.

It is my first experience in the United States and I enjoy studying at GEOS English Academy. My English is improving everyday, the teachers are funny and the lessons are always interesting. It is also nice to study with students from different countries than mine.Los Angeles is such a big city there are so many places to visit, I'd like to stay here! My host family is so nice to me and helpful, she is like a mother to me.

My Host Family is really good; they helped me to speak English and took care of me during the weekends.The classes are interesting because I have friendly teachers and we do different exercises every day.The school location is great because it's close to the mall and there are lots of shops around.After classes, the activities are great; we don't have time to get bored. The school staff is really nice and helpful.

I have enjoyed my stay here. The activities are really good. Class with Ashley has lots of homework but I am learning. My host family organizes activities for us to do as well. We went to her son's house. He has a pool that we swam in. I am happy to be here. There are many people from different countries.

The teacher tries to make class as fun as possible. Exercises are really challenging and makes us think about the language. The location is really nice. It is good and easy to find the school. My classmates are all very nice. I have met people from all over the world and have come into contact with other cultures. I have enjoyed my time here. I don't want to go back home. It is too short.

Studying at Geos is a great experience. The school location is good: there are a Starbucks, a bagel store and a variety of restaurants. I love it !My teacher Susan is friendly and I learn a lot with her. I like that the program includes everything: i can improve my listening and reading skills and expand my vocabulary. I like studying at geos and it is nice to meet people from different countries.My hostfamily is perfect: for the 4th of July they took me to their friend's house, it was like in a tv show with the pool, the bbq and the firework. we are doing lots of activities with them. tomorrow, we are going to Universal Studios and I am really excited about it.

The teachers here are really good and it is cool because the beach is close to the school. My homestay is really great, the mother is adorable, she is like my grandma.

I had fun in GEOS. GEOS has friendly people. GEOS's teachers teach very politely. Many people come to GEOS from many countries. I can study different cultures. I thought the world was big, there are many people in the world. But there are many of my school students in GEOS.

I have been here for three weeks and the teachers are great, Lisa is the best teacher. Sometimes it is hard to focus or to understand but I think my English is getting better. My homestay family is really nice. I am glad because there are activities with them and the school. It is better.

I have been here for two weeks and studying in GEOS English Academy is a great experience. My English is improving every day it is good because it is really important for my life. I need it for my job. The teachers at GEOS are very funny and helpful.I like studying here and it is nice to meet new friends from all around the world like France, Japan, Iran and Mexico. I always thought about doing an exchange program to improve my English, so a year ago I decided to do my exchange program in California and I could not have chosen a better place. The weather is great, you can visit several different places like Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Venice, beaches ... Last week I was in Las Vegas, I spent two days and really, this is a place that everyone needs to know. It is a fantastic place and unique. Next Saturday I'm going to Disneyland in the City of Anaheim. I am anxious to know the wonderful world of Disney!GEOS has wonderful teachers and teach a very well the English. I am satisfied with my choice of the exchange. I advise you to come to Los Angeles, is a magical place full of things to do during the week.

My exchange is only three weeks but I'm sure I'll enjoy every minute.

I'm already with GEOS for 3 weeks. I can't complain about GEOS, I'm really satisfied with them. The teacher is really good, you can improve your English well. My host family is really cool, I have so much fun with them. We are doing different things together going to L.A, Orange County, it's fantastic. The good point is that they have children in my age. GEOS is located in a good place, you can go shopping here or going to L.A or Disneyland because it's not far from here.

I don't regret it that I came to GEOS.

My name is Leticia and I'm from Brazil. Unfortunately, I'll spend only a month in Los Angeles, CA. This place amazing. Here it is possible to study and have fun in the same time. There are many interesting places to visit, the beaches are so beautiful, it's a safe city and people here are friendly and helpful. GEOS is a good school and my teacher Lisa is extremely competent. She teaches very well.I love my host family, they received me like a member of the family. I feel comfortable in home, they help to improve my English and my host father is fantastic in the kitchen.

It's an excellent and unforgettable experience. I hope as soon as possible, I return to this wonderful city!

Before I had to leave, I was really afraid. I was wondering how my family would be, how my school would be. But I was supported very well by my family and by the school. I love it. I'm just a little disappointed in Torrance because if you don't have a car it is very difficult to visit. But if I take all the positive things to compare, it's just a detail! I think it's a very good experience for me and my professional life.

I've been here in Torrance for 3 weeks and will be sad to come back home. This is the perfect place to rest and enjoy a beautiful view, especially during the summer. People here are kind, the beaches are awesome and the weather is fine.Our school doesn't have many students now but I am having a great time with the teacher and my host family. Next week I'm going to Las Vegas and hopefully enjoy a lot. I will never forget this experience!

GEOS is a very good school because I learn so much and it has good teachers and classmates. The system is very smart. GEOS integrates students from many countries in a lot of activities outside class; and it is very important because you talk more and improve your English.

This amazing trip to the USA started on February 5, 2012 when an aircraft from Argentina landed on the beautiful city of Los Angeles, California. It had always been my dream to be in this famous state, and it overcomes my expectations. Los Angeles has lots of spectacular places to go, which are famous for their beauty and popularity. Also, the people from Los Angeles is kind and they are always trying to make you feel at home. My host family was great, they taught me about their country and language and I could do the same to them. They were open-minded and that's a pleasant quality because they let me do whatever I want without problems.

About the visitation I've made, it was so magical to go to Disneyland and see the characters like Mickey, Minnie and Donald, their houses, the castle of the princesses and all that little things that made you come back to childhood. I went to Universal Studios and Knott's Berry Farm too, where the rides are so thrilling and fast. My last visit was to San Fransisco and I could see there the huge and famous bridge Golden Gate.

I spent 3 weeks in this unforgettable place and I would recommend it because of its quitness, organication and its ability to give the best view to all the people.

Travelling to California has been a great experience. Before traveling, my main worry was about my host family. As this is my first time with a host family, I was not very sure about how things would work. Fortunately I met the best host family ever. They made their best trying to make me feel home and they also helped me make the most of this trip. My host family was so open that I could learn more about American culture and customs. This trip taught me to be more open-minded, to look further and see other realities; it opened my eyes and made me think of all the things I still have to go through.
This has been a great opportunity for me to grow up into a person with some experience of the world, but I think I still have a lot to do. I am very thankful to all the people I met in the USA for all their kindness and their amiability.

My experience in America is really nice for different reasons. One of them is my homestay. My host family are very good hosts because I can practice my English with them every day. While we have dinner we tell each other about our day. They make me feel like another member of the family.Besides, I can visit a lot of places on the weekends when I don't have class. I have already visited Sequoia National Park, Hollywood, Universal Studios and San Francisco.Since I cane here, I only miss two things from my country: public transportation and the food. I don't like fast food. If you want to eat something different, it is easier here than in my country.Overall, my stay in GEOS is very useful because I can practice my speaking in class every day and I need that to get a better job!

Travelling to California has marked my life in several ways: socially, professionally, and emotionally.As for social relationships, this trip has revealed and showed that completely different cultures can co-exist sharing their customs, habits and points of views. American melting pot is truly unlike from home and it was made clear during the trip.Professionally speaking, as an English teacher I felt I was in debt with myself not having traveled abroad to an English speaking country until now. I knew there were many aspects I would only grab and learn living and experiencing them in California; such as different accents, cultural habits, of course idioms and native expressions. So, I was not mistaken, the time spend in the United States has helped my communication in a great deal. Considering emotions, I have built strong bonds which I am sure I will keep for long. Everybody, that is to say, my host family and their friends and relatives, teachers, and coordinators and people who we met occasionally in the street; have been eager to help us make our staying unforgettable.To sum up, my experience in Torrance, Los Angeles California has really made a different in my life. People's kindness, help and generosity has undoubtedly contributed to a wonderful experience in my life.

The first day here I felt a bit scared about the new things that I saw, but then everything was different, because I started to make friends that I will always remember.

The GEOS school is nice! I learned English with people from other countries. I like how I'm learning many interesting items I will know. The teachers are very friendly. The classroom is comfortable. I liked meeting with our teachers and young people from other countries. Break-coffee is very good because we speak and listen. And California is very scenic. It is very sunny and there are friendly people I will be back soon to GEOS because I want to speak English.

This is my first time in GEOS and it was the best summer in my life.

I came with friends, my mom and a friend of hers. We studied at GEOS, and it was very interesting. We met people from Mexico, Brazil, Russia, Japan, Italy, etc. It was a little difficult to communicate with each other, but our teacher, after lessons, prepared coffee talk once a week and it helped us a lot. We shared our lunches and some experiences.
That was really fun!I'm staying with my best friend in the same house. Our hosts are great! The mother is very patient. She takes us wherever we want and prepared delicious food. Her daughter is really fun and we have very good times with her. We visited a lot of places like Hermosa Beach, Venice Beach, where we played tennis, Redondo Beach, Santa Monica, and the first weekend we went to Disneyland and that Sunday was my birthday!!! I have to say that it was my best birthday party ever! We did both parks (Disneyland and California Adventures) in a day! That was too exhausting but amazing experience. I loved it!The next week, on Tuesday, we did ice-skating, we had fun but, unfortunately, a friend fell down and hurt her head. She is OK now. The other days we went shopping at many stores. They have great deals so bought a lot! On Saturday we went to Knott's Berry Farm, which has a lot of roller coasters. I will really miss that sensation.The last week started with a holiday for the President's day, so we went to Universal Studios. It was awesome! We enjoyed games in 3D and 4D and we did a tour in which we could see many sets of different movies. I liked so much! We saw whales! On Tuesday, we did a boat ride in Redondo Beach and we could see the tale of two whales. For luck we had great weather. We visited San Fransisco (Golden Gates and China Town), Hollywood and Beverly Hills too. Fantastic places. Unfortunately I couldn't see famous people but we visited the Madame Tussauds wax museum and it was pretty similar.

I'm very home sick but, of course, I want to come back! Los Angeles is an amazing city. It's beautiful, clean, with kind people and perfect for everyone!

I will miss a lot the city of Torrance.

I am from Russia. When I began to study English in GEOS I can speak English a little better than Groundhog Phil. In this school teachers can do impossible things! Now I can speak a lot better than Phil! Yes! Phil! Welcome to GEOS! You can tell people about spring without translating! Hope GEOS can do it for Phil!

I like GEOS because I meet different country people. Teachers are very kind. They teach very hard and do their best and I feel comfortable. I'm so happy in the English class. A lot of people that my Korean relatives ask me, How are you in your English class? I tell them my class too interesting. I recommended one other Korean person to GEOS. Last Friday we went to Redondo Beach for activity. Also I learned different languages from a lot of classmates.

I have been here for 4 months and my experience was great. The teachers are very kind and the classes are interesting.

Well, GEOS has been a help for my English. The capacity of class is proper and GEOS' facilities are clean and comfortable. Teachers are kind and they try to improve students' English skill. Also, Torrance is safer than other city and there are a lot of convenience services. For example, shopping mall, restaurant, and Torrance is near Redondo Beach!

I like GEOS because variety of people and places very good near the beach. Daseun GEOS very nice and class so clean everyday and teacher good and in the class, maybe ten minute games, and like to speak English with student and every week we have coffee talk! And weather is not to warm and not too cold.

I'm from Saudi Arabia. I like to play guitar in my school and I like to go shopping in L.A. It is very nice when you can shop in big mall and the other mall is not far from the first one. I have many new friends from different countries!

I'm Sae Oikawa. I'm from Shizuoka, part of Japan. I saw many gorgeous buildings. It makes me happy! I enjoy watching DVDs about American drama after school. And I want to study hospitality. There are many great hotels. It's interesting. So I want to visit Las Vegas again and again. I hope to go to the college in the future.

I have been here for almost two months, I am staying with my aunt, and I am comfortable here. But here I have another life, and I noticed that my aunt had a different life while she was living in her native country (Palestine). Here in America there is more safety and comfort. And here everything is different, I mean the process of the life here is different, even the people here think in a different way.

 

I have been to many places here in America like, Knott’s Berry Farm, Universal Studios, Santa Monica, Las Vegas, in addition there are a lot of from things I have done here. For instance, going to the beach (I like the beach very much because in my country the beach is far away from the place where I live), meeting different people from different region, going to amusement parks. Regardless of all this I still love my country more than any place.

I came to California 5 months ago, when I came to California I didn’t know anything about this place but now I’m so happy because I’m living here and the weather is wonderful and the people are friendly and fun.

Trip to Fire Station

 

I really liked to learn a little more about firemen. They’re really prepared to help and save people, because they studied many years for that and only the best can pass in the tests. They were very nice to explain all the things to us and let we know the place that they work and live.

GEOS English School is like a big family. All the teachers are very friendly and concerned about the well being of the students and offer support to solve problems. In class they agitate the students to participate in the language lessons to strengthen their confidents in their ability to speak and interact with other students. Also they like to interact with the students between the lessons and are always up to shenanigans.

 

The students are from all over the world so they are usually not able to communicate in their native language and have to speak English to communicate with each other. All the students are really friendly and you will make in a short time friends for a lifetime. After the students depart from GEOS they stay in contact over social networks until long after their departure. As a student you usually participate in social events with other students so you will not just improve your English in class but although in your free time.

 

The school offers education between beginners and expert levels, so each student starts at a different level. When you start your stay at GEOS the teachers will first evaluate your reading, hearing, writing and speaking skills. After the first evaluation the student is applied to a class which matches his skill level. The teacher tracks the progress of improvement for each student with a balanced scorecard for all four skills which is presented to the student after each month.

I like GEOS in Torrance for many reasons. I like lessons and teachers. I have gone to the beach with my host family. I have visited at free English classes in the evening. I like GEOS because I like friendly staff and student from other countries.

Country is beautiful, but I hate that everything is so far and the bus are going every 20 minutes. Home stay, my family, is good. I don't have problems. School is nice. Teachers are great and they are helpful for our education. And about our free time, trips ok good. But maybe one time in month could have some bigger trip. I mean Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, and San Diego. But I am satisfied. I am enjoying time here. I really do.

This is the first time I have ever said "Wow! I'm proud of myself." My graduation is just ahead, and I am ready to transfer to a university. I now think back to the beginning of my English study at GEOS. I started from beginner class and finished in the advanced class at the end. Through my English studies at GEOS, I learned that the most important thing to do your English is repetition. While I shared my daily event in class every day, I suddenly noticed, "I know a lot of vocabulary." Also my favorite class activity was the presentations. Of course, everyone gets nervous the first time, but I realized it is actually fun. A lot of experience in GEOS gave me confidence. Therefore, I wasn't worried about anything when I started studying at El Camino College. Although I have learned so many things there as well, GEOS is the most special for me. I still keep in contact with my many GEOS friends all over the world. My next challenge is studying at the university. However, I know that if I make the effort to achieve my goal, I will make it. Students!! Enjoy American life and expand your abilities. Don't worry, you are already honorable because you arrived in America.

Recount of the Armed Forces Day Field Trip:
I went with my teacher and my friends to the parking for the Del Amo Mall. We met the police men, Army men, and soldier men. We enjoyed when we talk with him. They were very helping. One from the Army explained how the helicopter works. I could not talk with the policeman because I don't speak English good. My teacher was helping me for talking with the policeman. I take some pictures with him. I was taking pictures with my teacher and my friends. We were coming to our school at 2:30 pm. On Saturday I went a second time to the same place with Airi and Rayid. We took some pictures and after that we went to the movie. We watched Pirates of the Caribbean. Finally, Airi went to her house with her mother. Rayid and me came to our house.

My name is Eva. I'm from Bangkok, Thailand. I'm very happy to be here. California is the land of dreams. Sunny days, beautiful beaches, and nice people. I have really good time here. And I'm even more glad to be a part of GEOS. Here, not only I can practice my English skills with so many talented staff but I also have a chance to meet new friends from all over the world. It's a very unique experience that i don't think I could find from anywhere else in the world!

Studying in Geos has been an absolute joy for me. the teachers are incredibly friendly and experienced ,speaking with students that came from all around the world has a wonderful feeling ,i get to learn about they're Culture and few bits and pieces from they're languages.

I have studied English in my own country, but come to Geos academy has been a really different experience because of the various opportunities that I have to improving my English. First of all, here I have had the advantage to be in a completely English environment, because I have native speakers teachers, the family in the homestay and all the people that I know outside Geos, and this also make you improving your English because you get use to thinking in English all the time. On the other hand the TOEFL course that I am taking is great, because it has more emphasis in the skills than in specific grammar topics. For me this is a big advantage, because I want to take the TOEFL and in this test they ask for skills but not for specific grammar. You probably can have a good grammar but if you do not have the proper skills, you will not be able to answer it, and that is why i think this course is great.

My name is Miguel I'm from Bogota-Colombia. I have been studying at GEOS for two months and it has been exceptional time; Not only the classes are enjoyable and classmates too but the location is great too! It is near to beautiful beaches, a lot of restaurants and bars are near GEOS. Even if you do not have money to spend you can steel having fun, you can go to the beach and play volleyball in the fields that are there, or you can simply go on weekends to the different concerts hermosa beach offers. I recommend to come to LA and improve english in GEOS Academy.

It was the dream of my life studying English. After my arrival to Los Angeles, I seen what not inconceivable to the mind in terms of its location and nature.

Today, I am talking about a specific subject that I hope it to be useful for all. I am one their own account. I spent few hard days there in Washington to get a file in the Saudi Embassy. It was difficult for me but I completed this procedure and travelled to Los Angeles. When we started landing, I was looking through the window and had been feeling better gradually. I took taxi to my great host family to spend 4 days before the beginning of semester in GEOS Institute. I attended the first day and got my placement test and got Level 1 according to weakness in English language.
Everything is wonderful in GEOS: there are many valuable activities and motivation to learn. Also the location is very good especially it is near from mall, banks, and sea and so on. There are very efficient teachers because they were forcing me to talk and apply presentations until I haven't been shy anymore.
This means it is very beautiful state as long as its population is very king and cooperative people. I like them really.
All mentioned points will force me to change my plan, it was planned to attend Hartford University in Connecticut but I will transfer to anyone in California. Finally, I hope good luck for all scholarship to serve their communities and like to thank American people for their kindness and cooperation.

Hi! My name is Rod and I'm from France. I was a student at GEOS for 3 months and I guess it was a smart move to come here and not a waste of time at all. GEOS Torrance is such a small and lovely place where you can choose to learn English in your own pace. The whole staff is composed of friendly and kind people who are always there to help you about any kind of problem related to classes or not. The classes are not too big and that create a comfortable atmosphere, unlike UCLA extension which was my first English school which was great too, GEOS classes offer much time to the student to express themselves not because it's a better school but just the way that they made the classes give much confidence to us, the student, to speak loudly in front of the class. Like I said before UCLA extension was my first English school, they help me to build a strong vocabulary but maybe because the class was little bit too crowded, I couldn't be able to improve my speaking, I think it's important especially for foreigner who are shy and even more for beginner to be in a situation that they can be able to speak without wondering about anything, and that's what GEOS does, put yourself in a comfortable situation to be able to express yourself. So it's a different kind of teaching, both are good in the way they teach. If you want to be in a school with a few number of student (from everywhere, Brazil, Italy, Turkey, Korean, Japanese, French...haha and even more) which looks like more an academy, GEOS is the place for you. Off course the location is just almost perfect, it is Los Angeles... but more than that, to me GEOS looks like more a big family, with is number of student, you can feel yourself at home, and it's important to feel like people are taking care of you, especially when you're missing your family. For me, definitively a good and an unforgettable (people) experience.

LA is a good location to access to the core cities, like SF, San Diego, Santa Monica. Also, driving takes you only 4 hours to get to Las Vegas. As you know, LA is one of the most exciting cities in the world. Why? Because there are lots of things to do. Watching NBA games at STAPLES Center, sight seeing in Hollywood and Universal Studios always makes you excited. In addition, you can make many friends from other countries as I did. They'll help you with anything. For example, 2 days ago I got a parking ticket. I had to pay money for penalty. But I didn't know how to pay money for penalty. So a GEOS staff member helped me. Then I got over my problem about the parking ticket. By the way, if you are over 21 years old, you could go to the night club. California has many good night clubs. I think you'll like it. Why am I studying English right now? Because I will go to film school after GEOS. So I need to learn English! There are no Japanese people there so I'm studying English very hard everyday. Before I came here, I worried about a lot of things whether I can improve my English, get along with my friends or host family and get used to American life...
